One of our favorite places to take friends and families visiting Ohio’s Amish Country is Hershberger Farm & Bakery. Hershberger’s is a one-stop-shop for some of the best attractions in Holmes County. From a delicious bakery and country store to buggy rides and a petting zoo, you really can’t go wrong with a visit.
Things to do at Hershberger’s Farm & Bakery in Ohio’s Amish Country
Shop
Amish Country is always a fun place to shop and Hershberger’s can’t be left out. Hershberger’s has a dedicated building just for shopping that is filled with wood decor, garden items, and children’s toys.
However, our favorite place to shop at Hershberger’s is inside their bakery! Fresh-baked cream sticks, donuts, and cinnamon rolls beckon visitors with their popular maple and chocolate icing. Local meats, cheeses, produce, and bulk goods are available to fill your hotel room and your home pantry! Tip: Bring an empty cooler and ice packs when visiting Amish Country – you may want to take home more than you think!

Take a buggy ride
To me, one of the most special things to do in Amish Country is to take a real buggy ride! While Hershberger’s offers just a short jaunt around the Hershberger property, it does give an appreciation for what the Amish encounter each day as they travel by horse & buggy.
Buggy rides can be purchased near the entrance to the petting area. We’ve found the early mornings to have shorter wait times, but we’ve never had to wait longer than 10 minutes.

Visit the petting area
Kids LOVE petting zoos. There’s just something about animal encounters that makes their little faces light up. If your children are like mine, they don’t get a chance to interact with much more than a housecat. Lol.
The main petting area at Hershberger’s is enclosed. If you’re looking for something to do on a cold or rainy day, this is a good choice! The area is not heated, so you’ll need to wear a coat. T
Hershberger’s charges a $3 admission fee for the petting area. Make sure you bring some dollar bills and coins to purchase food for the animals. The petting area is typically open from April – December. For an in-depth post about the petting area, check out this post on my other blog: Kid-Favorite: Hershberger’s Farm Petting Zoo.

Enjoy the season
Hershberger’s Farm & Bakery is a great seasonal stop! Our favorite time to visit is during fall. I love the pumpkin & mum displays, the smell of kettle corn, and the happy faces that are perusing the displays and pumpkin patch. Fall is just a really magical time at the farm.
Crowds can get intense on the weekend, so if possible, visit on a weekday.

Hershberger’s Farm and Bakery is located at: 5452 OH 557, Millersburg, OH 44654. The phone number is 330-674-6096 (call ahead to confirm petting area/buggy ride hours). They do not have a website.
The farm is located along the Amish Country Byway between Millersburg & Charm. SR-557 is one of my favorite roads of the ACB! Make sure you travel all the way to Charm!
